Wind – Harness the power of this natural renewable energy source with a rotary wind pump. Wind power is a pollution free natural energy with exceptional low maintenance costs and long life expectancy.
Traditional windmills are designed to drive a piston action pumping mechanism and have been in use for more than 100 years. Our range of WindRota windmills uses a rotary borehole pump which is proven to be more effective than other wind powered systems.
The WindRota windmill uses the rotary principle to pump water instead of the traditional reciprocating (up and down) pumping method. Other wind powered systems find it difficult to match the WindRota under the same conditions.
The WindRota wind turbine with a 4.6 diameter wheel operating in a 20 km/h wind and installed in a borehole 30m deep will deliver 30,000 litres of water per day.
The WindRota can be installed at the water source and pump water to wherever it’s required. Even the smallest WindRota will maintain a pumping rate of 1000 litres/h over a distance of 15km in a typical wind speed of 20km/h, using a small bore pipeline.
The following features make the WindRota a reliable and effective wind pump.
- The WindRota automatically feathers (furls) out of strong winds preventing over speeding and can absorb wind gusts without damage.
- The wheel is exceptionally strong and can withstand wind velocities of up to 150 km/h.
- The unique tower is designed for strength and is hot dipped galvanised for superior corrosion resistance.
- The machine tracks the wind’s changing direction.
- The WindRota can withstand harsh weather conditions and is corrosion resistant for many years.
- Sealed for life bearings ensure low maintenance.
- Rotary gear box is oil bath lubricated.
The WindRota inherently generates high head (pressure) therefore smaller bore pipelines can be installed, thereby saving on initial costs.
For windless days or emergencies the WindRota Turbine can be connected to an engine power by means of a quick release coupling for easy change over.
The WindRota can also be adapted to generate electricity and pump water for general purpose applications.
The WindRota is ideal for pumping from virtually any source such as wells, boreholes, streams, reservoirs, ponds, lakes etc. It can also be used for dewatering or drainage applications such as, marshlands, boggy areas, slurry lagoons etc.
