Surface Pumps

Without being cheeky surface pumps as the name implies are usually mounted (as far as we are concerned in this instance) at the surface or ground level.

Surface pumps cover an enormous range and variety, but for simplicity they can be characterised into two divisions namely: Centrifugal and Positive Displacement.  By far the most common type of pump and the one usually thought of as a surface pump is the Centrifugal Pump.

Quick Crash Course on Centrifugal Pumps (yes another one)

A Centrifugal Pump rotates and utilising centrifugal force the water or medium is spun outwards and then guided into the pump outlet.  Imagine holding a bucket of water; swaying it back and forth allows the water to slosh over, however by rotating the bucket 360 degrees, the centrifugal force created forces the water to the bottom of the bucket (you might get a bit wet when you stop though).

Don’t worry we don’t need a Quick Crash Course on Positive Displacement Pumps, just think of it as a fixed volume type of pump, which could be a hand pump, gear pump, piston pump and many other styles.

We supply and install a variety of self priming and non self priming centrifugal pumps for household water supply, garden and horticultural agricultural irrigation, water transfer, pressure boosting and countless other applications.

All models are available in 1ph and 3ph AC, 12 & 24v DC, together with bare shaft or engine driven pumps.  The choice of materials are vast please call us for further information or assistance.
