Cost effective for larger areas of turf.

These are often known as gear drives.

A single jet of water comes out ( larger models may have two jets and the very largest three and the very big ones on sports pitches often come out front and back). The water jet is moved by a series of gears inside the body of the pop up. The arc is easily changed and is usually infinitely adjustable from 45° to 360°. The throw is set by installing the correct nozzle. The throw can be reduced slightly by a screw interrupting the jet of water.

When installing the pop ups care must be taken as the arc setting is usually only for the right hand side so the left hand edge must be positioned correctly when installing. All our pop ups come with full instructions on installation and setting up. Once the popup has been set up they rarely need to be altered again. Most of these are not matched precipitation (except for Toro V1550)  so an end sprinkler will put on twice the water of a middle sprinkler set at 360°.

These are the best when wanting to cover a large area at a reasonable cost ( e.g. MPR Rotator at 6m will cost £15.99 and cover 113 sq m and a Toro medium throw gear driven will cost £24.80 and cover 450 sq m. This is especially true when it comes to installation as what ever the size of the pop up it costs the same to install.)

Some also have some very nice features such as been able to switch off popup sprinklers individually as well as the ability to alter the trajectory.
