They are the best irrigation system for people who need to leave plants for a long while and do not have a guaranteed source of water as there is virtually nothing to go wrong and as long as you have allowed for a large enough tank the plant driven watering system will keep delivering exactly the right amount of water to all your containers and hanging baskets either on the patio or in the greenhouse until you return
 
In it simplest form these irrigation system consist of trays and capillary matting but we offer two watering systems that move this type of watering on to the next level.

Tropf Blumat

Using ceramic probes this “intelligent irrigation system” will self water.

When the compost dries out the probe will allow water through and it will then shut itself off when the compost or soil is wet enough. The quantity of water applied can be adjusted to suit the plants requirements so those requiring drier environments can be coped with at the same time as those looking it a little damper.

The Tropf Blumat system is mainly used in pots, containers, tubs and hanging baskets but it can also be used in soil in conservatories and greenhouses as well as outside.
 
It can operate either from a tank using gravity or from the mains with a pressure regulator.
1 probe will do a 10” basket, the area covered by a single probe can be increased by using the 3mm fittings to add further outlets.

Autopot system

The Autopot system uses a special patented “smart valve” These control the flow of water to the container, allows the container to fill then as the water is used it allows the level to drop, when the tray is empty allows it to fill again. This leads to the perfect amount of water available and the water and nutrients do not become stale. Very simple with nothing to go wrong.

Other systems

As a variation on this theme the following watering systems have proved popular as although the actual compost moisture is not “measured” small amounts of water are added to the compost on a regular basis. These will fit any standard screw lid plastic bottle and also come with there own watering flasks if preferred.  The best bottles are the bottles with a firmer wall.

Bottle top dripper. The drip rate can be adjusted to suit various plants and the kit comes with the special dripper that drips faster in warm weather. Included in the kit are parts to hang the bottle and tube to get the water to exactly where it is required.

Bottle top dipper with spike.  With the same patented device as above this version allows the water to get direct to the roots.  Available as a short and long spike as well as a gift set that includes a flask.

Iriso. This device uses an internal float to adjust the amount of water it delivers. With the single and 4 unit these are designed with a water bottle.  With the 12 unit kit this should be used with a larger water container and an extensive system can be made by expanding it up with our 16 and 6 tube and fittings.
