Leaky Pipe is ideal for a multitude of drip irrigation areas around the garden and for landscapers and commercial growers e.g all your beds and borders, vegetable area and for hedges.
It can be made to fit your garden exactly.
Leaky Pipe is one of the original drip / trickle watering products developed in the 60's for irrigation. Subsequently it has been developed and improved, but for the last 15 years has hardly changed. Why should you when you have developed a product that all the subsequent copiers of porous hoses have tried to imitate, but still fail to meet our high standards of quality manufacture that gives an even output over an extended range of 50 metres.

BE AWARE Leaky Pipe is a specific trade marketed product and not a term for all porous hoses. Make sure you purchase the original and still the best porous hose, the one trusted by landscapers architects and commercial growers.
Leaky pipe is made of recycled rubber mainly from car tyres. Leaky Pipe is so free of toxins that it is widely used in the fish industry for oxygenating water.
Leaky Pipe does not have any actual drippers or holes in it. When the Leaky Pipe is manufactured during the extrusion process a carefully controlled amount of air gaps are left in the wall leaving a porous wall. The water comes out through the porous wall in an even output of 2 litres per metre per hour. As there are no holes in the wall this makes it ideal for burying in the soil as it can not be blocked from soil particles or root intrusion.

We recommend that the Leaky Pipe is buried or covered with mulch. If you wish to leave the pipe on the surface we recommend the Surface Drip line.
Leaky pipe is the easiest and most flexible of all the drip products as it is recycled rubber rather than plastic, it lays smoothly on the ground and is easily connected to the simple push together fittings. Hose or tube is used to connect all the lines of Leaky pipe up to form a system. A large area of garden can be watered at one time.
Very simple to automate with our wide range of timers and we recommend that you use a pressure regulator to make sure high pressure does not become a nuisance. Fertiliser can easily be introduced to your Leaky Pipe system with one of our feeders. Please note any fertiliser can be used but make sure it is fully
soluble and use a filter. Leaky Pipe should always be used with clean water. If your water could be of an insufficient quality use a filter. For irrigation advice call us on 01473 400 101
We have found that over an extended period of years the porosity of the Leaky Pipe can reduce and on investigation it is found to be a thin layer of natural mineral deposits found in water especially hard water. The effects of this can easily be overcome by A) burying it, the natural evaporation is reduced and it is the evaporation that deposits the minerals, B) running the system for longer as the years go past. The amount of water applied can be checked with a water meter or C) if the Leaky Pipe is accessible running water through it and stretching with a gloved hand and rubbing it along to disturb the deposit.
Leaky pipe is a unique size 8mm internal diameter and 12mm external and uses our barbed fittings to fit to standard hose and tubing. The size of Leaky Pipe is known as 12 and a standard garden 1/2" hose - 16. To connect use hose and pipe and the barbed fittings. Do not use cheap hose as it will not last.
We carry a wide range of other fittings to fit other sizes of hose and tubing.
