CONTROL EQUIPMENT

Which control system is best for me?

One of the main reasons to have a garden irrigation system is the ability to save time by having the system carry out the work for you. With a timed system it can irrigate in the middle of the night when the demand for water is least and also it is best to water at night due to less wind and minimal evaporation.

It is very easy to automate your water system, most timers just attach directly to your outside tap, require one set of batteries for the whole year and the only maintenace is to bring the controller inside before the first frosts occur.

Your tap can still be used for other purposes with the addition of a tap splitter.

All of the irrigation systems that Garden Systems can offer you can be fully automatic whether you are using mains water or a stored source from a water butt or water tank.

Below you will find links to the various different styles of timers that we do and also a range of manifolds that can be used if you have a large system split into zones to control.

Remember all controllers and valves must be stored away from frost to avoid being damaged

Mechanical Irrigation Timers

A selection of controllers that are mechanically controlled so they do not rely on battery or mains power. These timers are very simple to set and switch themselves off after they have finished carrying out its watering cycle automatically.

Battery Irrigation Timers

These controllers all are battery operated and typically run of a 9 volt battery or from AA batteries and will typically last you a season (one full watering year). These are great if you don't want to use the mains supply or if you have an allotment or area where there is no mains electricity available. The majority of automatic timers that Garden Systems sells are the battery timers as they are compact and easy to use.

We do a large range to cope with many differnet circumstances and budgets.

Also available are battery operated timers that can run multiple valves on larger systems. Either can be a single programme or with three programmes to cope with greater variety of irrigation requirements.

Gardena do a very smart system with remote valves that can be individually programmed are discreetly underground and nobody with out the controller can interfere with them. Your irrigation system can easily be adapted then as required.

Mains Operated Irrigation Timers

If you have a large irrigation system that is split into different zones and have a wide range of different applications that need completely different running times, then the mains operated controllers are what you are looking for. All the programmes are independent so you can set each zone to do exactly what you want it to do. These controllers will operate from standard main supplies and the controllers will plug into a standard 3 pin socket.

These systems are hard wired with low voltage command cable to the manifold or solenoid valves.

Manifolds

The manifolds are for use with the mains operated irrigation timers and consist of series of solonoid valves. It is the solonoid valves, when given a signal from the controller, that open and control the flow of water around the garden watering system. All of the manifolds come ready to install and all the valves have been pre wired and the manifolds have been tested before they are dispatched to you.
